> TGSE International Junior Academy |
|
| |
* Programme Description - A full-time programme for Grades 10, 11 & 12, where learners combine intensive golf training with private school education.
TGSE has collaborated with Abbotts College to provide the education part of the programme. The partnership between TGSE and Abbotts College brings together two industry-leading institutions to provide the best possible training in both education and golf performance. Abbotts College is part of the Advtech Group, which is a JSE listed company and the leading provider of quality education in South Africa.
The students spend their mornings in the classroom at Abbotts College and the afternoons at TGSE's Golf Academy, either on the range or on the golf course.
The structure of the golf training follows the philosophy that we incorporate into our Elite Academy and PGA Diploma programmes. Students are fully supervised throughout the entire schedule. Weekly medal tournaments are held on Sundays.
Juniors who are educated through home schooling can apply for the golf only section of the programme. |

Tournaments - TGSE students compete in weekly strokeplay tournaments and multi-round championships, which form the basis of the TGSE Junior Order of Merit. The winner of the Order of Merit receives a 50% scholarship towards the golf fees for the following year. Students are also encouraged to compete in local and national junior tournaments. |

* Progress Reports - TGSE has developed a unique statistics and reporting software system, through which parents can view scores and statistics updated on a weekly basis. Through the system, parents also view reports at the end of each cycle containing tournament scores, vital statistics and attitude assessments. > TGSE Junior Player Development |
|
| |
| |
|
|
TGSE’s junior programmes are based on the latest research into Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD), and adapted for golf training.
The LTAD approach focuses on having kids perform age-appropriate skill acquisition drills to maximize their athletic potential. It progressively gets more complicated and more specialized as the golfer develops and reaches the next level of development.
Fundamental movements and skills are introduced through fun and games at an early age. Fundamental sports skills follow and include basic universal sports skills such as running, jumping, and throwing. Without the solid foundation of basic movement skills, a child will have difficulty excelling in golf at a later stage.
The TGSE Player Development Process takes youngsters from 4 years old through to a professional level. Each programme focuses on the key fundamental learning requirements for that age range. |
