The Golf School of Excellence is based at the Observatory Golf Academy next to Observatory Golf Club. This is the premier branch in the TGSE family, is run by TGSE Founder Michael Balderstone, and offers the full range of TGSE programmes. The facility features the largest grass tee area in South Africa, as well as a custom built short game facility. The academy specialises in training and developing elite performance golfers. The academy utilises Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club as its home course.

The academy offers the 3-year PGA Golf Diploma (National Diploma: Club Professional Golfing), in alliance with Exercise Teachers Academy, to talented golfers wishing to pursue a career in the golf industry, whether as a player or in the business of golf.
