Think more about your club selection
Often golfers will only make use of one club for a specific distance, not taking into account a number of variables:
1. Where is your "safe" area - This is the area where you can hit your bad shot without getting too severely penalised and still have a chance to salvage a par. Look out for deep bunkers, water hazards and out of bounds to avoid.
2. Pin placement - Golfers will often just hit the ball directly at the flag, this in turn can bring all the above mentioned trouble into play. Make sure you choose the club that takes the major trouble out of play. Birdies don't only come from tap-in's.
3. The elements - Wind, rain, temperature, altitude, type of ball and all the other variables that the elements provide can affect your distances substantially from day to day.
Remember to make use of all your clubs, know what your bad shot is and play away from the trouble. |
