Correct Spine Tilt
In this tip we look at how body positioning, and more specifically how spine tilt (the spine position was viewed from face on) can affect ball flight. |
| |
With reference to the pictures, one will notice that as the spine tilt of a right handed golfer gets into a left side dominant position, the shoulder alignment becomes open relative to the feet position and target. |

This causes the club to travel through impact on an out-to-in swing path. More often than not, this will imparting clockwise spin on the ball resulting in a slice. Alternatively the player may release the clubface at impact resulting in a pull. |

In order to correct this, one needs to position the spine more neutrally. We achieve this by ensuring that the spine tilt runs parallel to the left leg, tilting slightly away from the target. This allows the shoulder alignment to be squared and ultimately gets the club travelling closer to the desired swing path reducing the amount of clockwise spin giving YOU straighter longer shots! |
