Visualisation - Use the force Luke

Before I got into golf, my childhood passion was Star Wars.  I remember a poster entitled "Everything I know I learned from Yoda".  Here's one example of how we can use the wee Jedi's teachings to improve our golf.

In one scene from 'The Empire Strikes Back', during his early Jedi training, Luke Skywalker tried in vain to retreive his X-wing fighter from a swamp, while his diminutive mentor Yoda did it with ease using 'the force'.

"I don't believe it" said Skywalker, to which Yoda replied; "that is why you failed".

This philosophy is very relevant to golf.  You must believe that every shot will be successful and that each putt will go in.  That you will win the match or tournament that you are playing in.  Jack Nicklaus would never hit a shot until he had visualised what he wanted to happen, not even in practice.

Try to visualise the ball flying in the air or rolling towards the hole.  You may be surprised how good you really can be if you put your mind to it and truly believe.
